The Story: Matante (Aunt in Haitian Creole) Pearl carries her history in every thread. She’s lived, lost, loved, and rebuilt herself without apology. Her bold lips, thrifted frames, and statement earrings reflect a woman rooted in her past but fully in her power, unafraid to be seen.

Every so often, she lights a cigarette. She knows she shouldn’t, but it’s not about the smoke, it’s about the memories. It takes her back to love, laughter, and that one man who always said she was “smoking wrong.” She still smokes wrong, and that’s exactly how she likes it.
